Community Picnic August 11th!

Eliza Wilson’s birthday picnic, ca. 1912, at Sam Wilson’s place shortly after they arrived on Lopez

The Lopez Island Historical Society board and staff would like to cordially invite you to join us for a Community Picnic on Sunday, August 11th from noon to 3 p.m. All are welcome, so bring friends, family, visitors, whomever!

This year will feature old-fashioned music and sing-alongs by Lopez Time, led by board member Larry Cochran and including Danny Gilbreath, Calvin Lovendosky, Ann Palmer, and Pat Nicely. (And maybe some special guests!)

The You Are Making History Timeline will be back for new additions, we’ll have a children’s signature quilt, and the happy addition of two of our local food trucks, Poutine Your Mouth and El Taco ‘Bout It, for those who don’t want to pack a picnic. Free iced tea, lemonade, and water will be provided by the museum.

We’ll also have the Story Corner set up for those who are brave enough to share some of their favorite stories about Lopez history. And a sign up sheet for a future oral history interview for those who would rather tell their stories without an audience!

We encourage you to bring your own family-friendly fun, as well – lawn games, bubbles for the kids, maybe even your own instrument to join in the music.

Please feel free to forward this email to your neighbors and friends – the more, the merrier!

See you Sunday, August 11th on the lawn of the museum!
